There’s no shortage of sports bars in Atlanta or even near MARTA if you don’t want to drive, are staying at a local hotel or are looking for an easy lunch spot or happy hour along your commute. See below for the closest bars to MARTA to plan your outing.
A local favorite, Taco Mac is an Atlanta-based sports bar with wings, burgers and Tex-Mex. There are locations all over the city, including four locations next to MARTA stations:
Take the Philips Arena exit out of the MARTA station and turn left at street level. Walk around Philips Arena to reach the entrance (Taco Mac is connected directly to Philips Arena and the CNN Center).
Midtown Station Take the Peachtree Place exit out of the station and turn left. Taco Mac is less than a block away on Peachtree Street.
Lindbergh Center Station Exit the MARTA station on the northbound platform side of the station (toward the city center and not the apartments and buses). Look for the signs pointing to Main Street.
Use the Swanton Way exit to leave the station. Walk to Commerce Street and turn right. Taco Mac is on the next corner
Another sports bar chain with a large food and drink menu and plenty of TVs, Hudson Grille is also near several MARTA stations:
Take the Philips Arena exit out of the station and turn right at street level in front of Philips Arena. Walk up the stairs and alongside the arena and CNN until you reach Marietta Street. Turn right. Hudson Grille is almost directly on the corner.
Take the Peachtree Place exit out of the station and turn left. Hudson Grille is across from Taco Mac on Peachtree Street.
Hudson Grille is directly across the street from the MARTA station — can’t miss it!
If you rather have surf and turf while watching your favorite sports, Dantanna’s provides a higher-end sports bar experience at two locations near MARTA:
Take the Philips Arena exit out of the station and turn left at street level. Walk completely around Philips Arena and past Taco Mac. Dantanna’s is the next restaurant on the right. There’s an outdoor patio or enter via the doors into the CNN Center.
Buckhead Station Use the Peachtree Road pedestrian tunnel to exit the station (not the bridge) and at street level turn right to walk along the street. Turn right at the first stoplight leading into Lenox Square Mall to reach the restaurant.
Inside the Marriott Marquis hotel, High Velocity is large sports bar near all the hustle and bustle in downtown Atlanta. The Peachtree Center MARTA station is about two blocks away. Exit the station via the signs pointing to Harris Street and then to Peachtree Street East. Turn right at street level on Peachtree and right again on Harris Street/John Portman Blvd.
A fun and unique spot to watch the game, Stats has a rooftop and draft beer you can pour yourself. Take the train to the Dome MARTA station and use the Philips Arena exit to leave the station. Turn left at street level to walk entirely around Philips Arena. Turn left again at Marietta Street near the Omni Hotel and CNN Center and walk just over a block.
A short walk away from the King Memorial MARTA station, Bada Bings is a newer sports bar in the Pencil Factory Loft building. Turn left on Decatur Street in front of the station and walk about a block.
Bucket Shop Cafe
The established Bucket Shop Cafe has been around since 1969. It is in between the Lenox and Buckhead MARTA stations, though Lenox is slightly closer. Take the “To Mall” exit out of the station and cross the street in front of the station to walk northwest on Lenox Road. The cafe and bar is less then two blocks up on the right.
For game day in a Celtic-inspired venue, the Tilted Kilt at the Perimeter is next to the Sandy Springs MARTA station. Exit the station via the signs pointing to Perimeter Center West and walk into the parking deck. Take the elevator up to the third level and use the door next to the elevator to exit the parking deck and reach the rear of the pub.
