MARTA Trip Planning

If you’re new to MARTA or not sure how to get to a destination on transit, figuring out what bus or train to use and what direction to go can be a bit confusing. Luckily, there are several MARTA trip planning options to help you get from point A to point B.

Rider Alert: As of April 20, 2020, only 41 bus routes will be in service, about 50 less than normal due to budget and social distancing issues related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Google Maps

The recommended option for MARTA trip planning is Google Maps. Get directions on a smartphone or computer by typing in your start and end destination and clicking on the transit icon to get MARTA directions vs. driving directions.

Benefits of Google Maps include:

  • Total commute time
  • Approximate walking time
  • Time on the bus or train (including number of stops)
  • Ability to choose the day and time you wish to depart or arrive
  • Ability to save the trip directions to your Google Calendar for easy reference

In addition to MARTA rail and buses, bus schedules for GRTA Xpress and Cobb Community Transit are also in Google Maps for easy regional trip planning. Please confirm bus options and schedules on the MARTA website as Google may have a delay in updating MARTA’s new schedule. You can also view the 41 bus routes currently in service on our bus schedule page.

If trip planning online is difficult or not an option, MARTA also offers a trip planning service through the phone. Call 404-848-5000 for assistance or email (which is often best for a faster response).
