7 Ways to Enjoy the 2015 MARTA Free Ride Day
On Sept. 7, 2015, MARTA is making Labor Day more enjoyable with free rides on buses and trains. So, where are you going to go? Here are our top picks for Atlanta Labor Day destinations. MARTA will be on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day, which means 20-minute train frequencies. Use the MARTA on the Go app for real-time train arrivals and OneBusAway for real-time bus arrivals.

Zoo Atlanta‘s meet and feed animals exhibit kicks off Labor Day weekend — the perfect time to try riding a MARTA bus. Bus 32 travels to the zoo from the Five Points MARTA station. Or walk to the zoo from the King Memorial MARTA station. On the way you’ll pass several restaurants for brunch or lunch on your urban hike.
Labor Day Blues BBQ
Held each year at Park Tavern, the Labor Day Blues BBQ features great music and food from Fat Matt’s Rib Shack. Tickets are $20 at the door and $15 in advance. Walk 20 minutes from MARTA or transfer to bus 36 or 99 if they are in the bus bay when you arrive at the station. Exit either bus at the stoplight at Charles Allen Drive.

Don’t want to walk too far from MARTA? Head to the Midtown Restaurant Week to enjoy the many restaurants around the Midtown, Arts Center and North Avenue MARTA stations. Some of the participating restaurants closest to MARTA include Bantam + Biddy, Escorpion, Steel, Mi Cocina, Ri Ra, Ecco, Hudson Grille, Taco Mac, Tabla and the Livingston.
