Early voting locations near MARTA

The 2018 midterm elections are here! Early voting is now an option at multiple locations so you can vote when it’s convenient, including on the weekend. Here are the spots that are easiest to get to on MARTA rail so you can combine civic duty with your work/school commute or reach a voting location without a car.

Keep in mind that you need to vote in your county of residence, be registered to vote (the deadline for new voters to register has passed) and have one of the following photo IDs:

  • Georgia driver’s license, even if expired
  • ID card issued by the state of Georgia or the federal government
  • Free voter ID card issued by the state or county
  • U.S. passport
  • Valid employee ID card containing a photograph from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state
  • Valid U.S. military identification card
  • Valid tribal photo ID

Not sure if you are registered to vote? Check your voter status online.

Fulton County

There are two Fulton County early voting locations in easy walking distance from MARTA rail: Fulton County Government Center and Georgia State University. See below to learn more and view voting hours online.

Fulton County Government Center
The Fulton County Government Center is a 5-minute walk away from the Five Points MARTA station. As a bonus, all rail lines connect with the station and if you stop by on a weekday, trains are frequent.

Georgia State University’s Veterans Hall
Also in downtown Atlanta, Veteran’s Memorial Hall on the GSU campus is another early voting location, but only on Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24. The hall is within Dahlberg Hall, a 7-minute walk from the Georgia State MARTA station on the blue/green line and near the Hurt Park Atlanta Streetcar stop. From the MARTA station, look for the Piedmont Avenue exit and turn right.

Dekalb County

Dekalb County’s early voting locations aren’t as easy to get to from MARTA rail (view list and voting hours). The main location in walking distance of a rail station is The Voter Registration and Election Office at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300. It is a 13-minute walk away from the Kensington MARTA station on the blue line. You can vote on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Or stop by between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 20 and Oct. 27 only), and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Other Dekalb Locations
If you’re willing to ride the bus, you can also vote early at The Gallery at South Dekalb (routes 15 and 74) and the Dunwoody Library (route 150 stops about a block away).

Additionally, from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2, you can also vote in downtown Dectatur at the First Christian Church of Decatur (601 W. Ponce de Leon Avenue). Exit at the Decatur MARTA station.
