MARTA to the John Lewis Mural

The John Lewis Mural in Atlanta is painted on a building in downtown Atlanta at 219 Auburn Ave NE, about a 10-minute walk from the Georgia State MARTA station on the blue and green rail lines. In the historic Sweet Auburn district, there are several other sites to visit nearby including the Sweet Auburn Curb Market and the Old Butler Street YMCA building where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once spent time.

  1. Take a blue or green line train to the Georgia State station. Starting on the red or gold line? Transfer at Five Points to the first eastbound train.
  2. Follow the signs to the Jesse Hill Jr. station exit at street level (not Piedmont)
  3. Turn left on Jesse Hill Jr. Drive, walk past the hospital and across Edgewood Avenue

Tip: You can also board the Atlanta Streetcar and ride to the Sweet Auburn Market stop. You can easily connect with the streetcar outside the Peachtree Center MARTA station. Use the Ellis Street/Peachtree Street East exit for easiest access. The streetcar continues on to the MLK Jr. Historic Site if you want to continue sightseeing.
