View the list of observed MARTA holidays with corresponding schedule changes for 2018. In most cases, train frequency is every 20 minutes on holidays, with special exceptions for the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve to accommodate large crowds attending events.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
On Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, MARTA rail service starts at 4:45 a.m., but with 20-minute train frequencies. Buses will operate on Saturday schedule except for routes 109, 143, and 148, which will be on a normal weekday schedule.

On Monday, May 28, trains and buses will operate on Sunday schedules. Rail service will begin at 6 a.m. with trains every 20 minutes.
Fourth of July
Trains will depart North Springs and Doraville starting at 4:30 a.m. with a frequency of every 12 minutes (every 6 minutes to Lenox in the early morning) until 2 a.m. to accommodate Peachtree Road Race runners and those going to firework shows. Buses will operate on Saturday schedules and additional road race shuttles will depart from the Midtown and Lindbergh Center stations starting at 5 a.m. and take runners to the start of the race.
On Monday, September 3, trains and buses will operate on Sunday schedules. Additionally, extra trains on Saturday of Labor Day weekend to accommodate the Dragon Con Parade and other events.
Buses will operate on Sunday schedules on Thanksgiving Day and rail service will start at 4:45 a.m. to accommodate road race runners.
Friday After Thanksgiving
Rail service will start at 4:45 a.m. with trains every 20 minutes. Buses 109, 142, 143 and 148 will operate on regular weekday schedule, and all other buses on Saturday schedules.
