On Saturday, Dec. 9, three new MARTA buses will hit the streets of Atlanta and new schedules and route adjustments go into effect, including a reshuffling of where buses drop off and pick up passengers at the Five Points MARTA station. See below for the service change highlights and view the complete list of service changes with new maps and schedules on the MARTA website.

Simplified Route Names

Several bus routes are changing names in December to focus on the main street on which the bus travels — a positive move for the transit agency that should simplify route information for commuters. This naming system is used in large cities such as New York and Chicago. Upcoming changes include 4-Moreland Avenue, 16-North Highland Avenue, 42-Pryor Road and 55-Jonesboro Road.

New Downtown Bus

“The Peach” route that travels on Peachtree Street and Peachtree Road, currently 110, will be separated into two routes. 110 will be the new Buckhead route from the Arts Center MARTA station to Lenox. New bus 40 will travel between the West End and Arts Center stations every 30 minutes.

New Roswell Bus

Bus 142 will provide new service on Holcomb Bridge Road with a stop at the Mansell Park and Ride on weekdays only. Night service is not available at this time.

New Express Bus to Local Colleges

Bus 295 will help students get to the Atlanta Technical College and Atlanta Metropolitan State College faster. The new route will depart from the Lakewood MARTA station with limited stops and a frequency of every 20 minutes on weekdays when classes are in session.

More Clairmont Road Service

Ask and you shall receive. Due to your input, more buses will be added to route 19 to increase frequency and all buses will travel the entire length of the route (Decatur to Chamblee).

Five Points Bus Drop Off/Pick Up Changes

Please check the full list of service changes to view bus routes with new drop off or pick up locations at the Five Points MARTA station. This busy area is being modified for efficiency, so heads up that you might need to go to a different street to board the bus. Currently Alabama, Broad and Forsyth are the three major locations for bus transfers at Five Points.

81 Extended to East Point

Instead of terminating in a southside neighborhood, bus 81 will terminate at the East Point station and travel to and from West End.

107 Extended to Indian Creek

Route 107, which primarily travels on Glenwood Avenue, will continue to the Indian Creek MARTA station instead of terminating at Kensington.

115 Extended to Kensington

MARTA bus 115 will depart from the Kensington MARTA station instead of Indian Creek starting Dec. 9. This route travels to and from the Mall at Stonecrest.

Bus 155 will no longer stop at Five Points

Bus 155 will terminate at the West End MARTA station and no longer travel to the Five Points and the Georgia State stations. If you need to continue north, board a red or gold line train or transfer to the new bus 40 at the West End station. As a replacement, bus 13 will provide new service between Five Points and Georgia State/Grady Hospital.
