Alma Cocina and Tin Lizzy’s
Alma Cocina has consistently ranked as one of the top Mexican restaurants in the city. Located on the main level of an office building next to the Peachtree Center MARTA station in downtown Atlanta, there’s an atrium bar and a restaurant area. Take the Ellis Street exit off the train platform and follow the signs to Peachtree Street East after exiting the fare gates. At street level, turn right and walk slightly less than a block.
As a second option is Tin Lizzy’s just around the corner. The atmosphere is more casual and you can enjoy live music on the weekends. For the shortest walk, follow the signs to the John Portman exit after getting off the train then to Peachtree Street east. At street level, turn right on Peachtree then left on Andrew Young International Blvd.
No Mas! Cantina
No Mas! Cantina is a 13-minute walk away from the GWCC/CNN MARTA station, and is conveniently near the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena. It’s a large and colorful space for a solid meal before or after browsing artisan goods in the on-site store. View walking map.
For killer happy hour deals, head to Senor Patron near the Midtown MARTA station. Don’t miss the inexpensive house margaritas Monday-Friday between the hours of 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Regular lunch specials and a small patio are other perks. Take the Peachtree Place exit out of the Midtown MARTA station and turn left. Walk up to Peachtree Street and turn right. The restaurant is about a block down on the right in a highrise building.
Just down the street from Senor Patron is Escorpion, a Mexican restaurant and tequila bar that overlooks Peachtree Street. On Saturdays you’ll regularly find international and Latin DJs playing music. Take a red or gold line train to the North Avenue MARTA station and follow the signs to the Fox Theatre exit out of the station, walking straight through the indoor mall to reach 3rd Street. Turn right on 3rd and walk up to Peachtree Street and turn left.
On the Border
Now you have a reason to use the new Buckhead bridge. On the Border is a chain restaurant in the shopping center next to the Buckhead MARTA station with a large menu and a brunch with great drink deals. Take the north, bridge exit out of the station and turn left toward Tower Place. Walk over Ga. 400 toward the shopping center. Turn right on the first street past the parking lot.
El Rey Del Taco and Monterrey Mexican Restaurant
El Rey Del Taco and Monterrey Mexican Restaurant are almost neighbors on Buford Highway near the Doraville MARTA station. Cross the street in front of the MARTA station and walk down Central Avenue and turn right on Buford Highway. Monterrey is the closer of the two, and serves fried ice cream.
