Italian dining is always a solid choice for a date night or nice evening out, especially if comfort food or Neapolitan pizza is at the top of your list. Atlanta’s many ethnic restaurants include a variety of Italian options, some of which you can easily walk to from a MARTA station. See the list of restaurants to explore below. Remember that MARTA service ends around 1 a.m., so plan your trip accordingly.
Baraonda
A popular spot for Fox Theatre goers, Baraonda is just a few doors down from the historic theatre and the North Avenue MARTA station on Peachtree Street. There’s a cozy interior and a large wine collection. Take the Fox Theatre exit out of the station and walk through the indoor mall to 3rd Street. Turn right on 3rd and walk less than a block.
Ribalta
With a central location in Midtown and a semi-casual vibe, Ribalta specializes in Neapolitan pizza or choose from an assortment of pasta dishes and salads. For the shortest walk, take the Federal Reserve exit out of the Midtown MARTA station (north end of train platform) and turn left on 10th Street at street level. Walk less than a block to Peachtree Street and turn left again. The restaurant is at the next intersection on the left.
Ecco
Ecco is a modern European restaurant and cocktail bar a short walk from the Midtown MARTA station. Features include locally-sourced food, a stylish dining room and outdoor patio. Take the Peachtree Place exit out of the station and turn left on Peachtree Place and then a quick right on Cypress Street.
Pasta Da Pulcinella
An independent Italian restaurant, Pasta Da Pulcinella is in restored house in a quieter part of Midtown. There’s a charming tree-lined patio and fresh pasta on the menu. The more pleasant walk is from the Midtown MARTA station. Take the Federal Reserve exit out of the station at the north end of the train platform and walk up the pedestrian plaza to reach Peachtree Walk. Continue walking straight ahead for about two blocks.
Maggiano’s Little Italy
For hearty portions and family-style Italian meals, head to Maggiano’s. The Buckhead location is directly next to the Buckhead MARTA station. Take the first Peachtree Road exit out of the station and turn left. The Dunwoody location is in Perimeter Mall next to the Dunwoody MARTA station.
Valenza
In the Brookhaven Village, Valenza is a 10-minute walk away from the Brookhaven MARTA station in a semi-suburban residential area. It is a romantic spot with Northern Italian food. View walking directions to the village to plan your trip.
Vintage Pizzeria
A rustic and happening spot, Vintage Pizzeria has specialty pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and more on the menu. Take a gold line train to the Chamblee MARTA station and follow the signs pointing to the buses to exit the train platform. At ground level, take the Peachtree Road tunnel exit out of the station and turn right on Peachtree Road and walk about a block.
Carrabba’s Italian Grill
Next to Perimeter Mall, Carrabba’s is family-friendly restaurant chain that has a menu full of classic Italian dishes. Take a North Springs, red line train to the Sandy Springs MARTA station and follow the signs to the Perimeter Center West station exit. After walking out of the station, turn right and follow the sidewalk around to Perimeter Center West and turn left. The restaurant is about a block down the street in the Perimeter Place development.
Avellinos Pizzeria
Avellinos Pizzeria is in a quiet residential area if you are looking for a neighborhood place to dine. Organic and local ingredients are highlights. Take a blue line train to the East Lake station and use the South Parking exit to reach West College Avenue next to the station. Turn left on West College Avenue and walk just over a block.
No. 246
On the main Decatur Square, No. 246 is a classy spot surrounded by a small-town atmosphere. A charming outdoor patio behind the restaurant is strung with lights and features a ping pong table. Take a blue line train to the Decatur MARTA station and follow the signs to the Church Street exit. Turn left on Church and left at the stoplight on E. Ponce de Leon Avenue.
Sapori di Napoli Pizzeria
If Italian-style pizza in Decatur is more appealing, head to Sapori di Napoli instead. Turn right on Church Street instead of left from the Decatur MARTA station.
