As the closest movie theater to MARTA, Regal Cinemas Perimeter Pointe is in a shopping center next to the Sandy Springs MARTA station. A few restaurants and Starbucks are nearby for coffee or dining before or after a movie. Follow the signs pointing to Perimeter Center West after exiting the train. After leaving the station, walk into the parking deck and go up to level three for a door to street level near the building.

Cinefest is a student-run movie theater on the Georgia State University campus. Admission is free for GSU students and there’s a small fee for the community to see newer films as well as cult classics, documentaries and foreign films. View the movie schedule online. On MARTA, take the Piedmont Avenue exit out of the station and turn right. Walk to Decatur Street, turn left and walk two blocks to Courtland Street.

AMC Dine-In Theatres Buckhead

Station: Buckhead
Rail Line: Red
Walking Time: 6 minutes

AMC Dine-In Theatres Buckhead offers dinner along with a show in the heart of the Buckhead business district. A variety of restaurants are in the area as well as stores and malls. Use the bridge exit (not Peachtree Road) to leave the station and follow the signs pointing to Tower Place. At street level, walk straight ahead and through the small park to continue on Tower Place.

AMC Phipps Plaza 14

Also near the Buckhead MARTA station, AMC Phipps Plaza 14 is in the mall of the same name. Take the Peachtree Road exit out of the station go up the first set of stairs (or use the elevator) to go to street level. Turn left on Peachtree Road and walk just over two blocks to reach Phipps Plaza. Turn left on Lenox Road for the mall’s side entrance near the movie theater.

You can also exit at the Lenox MARTA station and walk up Lenox Road. Walking time is about three minutes longer.

Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 16/IMAX

Station: Arts Center
Rail Line: Red and Gold
Walking Time: 20 minutes

If you want to see a movie in IMAX, head to Atlantic Station. Surrounded by restaurants and retail stores, Regal Atlantic Station is a 20-minute walk from the Arts Center MARTA station or ride the free shuttle from the station. The shuttle is frequent, but you can also transfer for free to bus 37 if it happens to be at the station when you arrive.

Landmark Theater Midtown Arts Cinema

Station: Midtown
Rail Line: Red and Gold
Walking Time: 25 minutes

A smaller and more intimate theater, the Midtown Arts Cinema sells wine and beer in a semi-hidden location near Piedmont Park. We don’t recommend walking after dark/late at night, but two bus routes travel from the Midown MARTA station and stop near the shopping center where the theater is located: 36 and 109. It is free to transfer to a bus from a train (use the MARTA on the Go app for real-time bus location map). If you do plan to walk, use 10th Street (view directions).
