Sylvan Hills is a neighborhood in Southwest Atlanta near the Lakewood/Fort McPherson MARTA station on the red and gold rail lines. Established in the 1920s, the neighborhood has long-time residents and young professionals along with affordable real estate, including bungalows and homes built in the ’50s and ’60s. There isn’t a great deal of commercial or retail in the area, with shopping and restaurants more readily available in nearby West End and East Point.
In addition to the MARTA station, several buses travel to and from Sylvan Hills:
- Bus 42 (travels from the Lakewood/Ft. McPherson station to the Lakewood Amphitheatre and Five Points station)
- Bus 79 (travels between the Oakland City and East Point stations)
- Bus 172 (travels between the Oakland City and College Park stations)
- Bus 178 (travels from the Lakewood/Ft. McPherson station t0 Sylvan Hills and Glenrose Heights neighborhoods)
