Established in 1887, East Point, Georgia is a small city southwest of Atlanta that was once the easternmost point of the Atlanta & West Point Railroad. The historic downtown area has a variety of restaurants across the street from the East Point MARTA station on the red/gold rail line, and free events, festivals and a farmer’s market take place throughout the year.
All trains departing from the airport stop at East Point as well as all red and gold southbound trains marked “Airport.” If you are traveling from the blue or green line, transfer to the first southbound train at the Five Points MARTA station.
Main Street runs in front of the station. Turn right for most of the restaurants as well as the library and city hall. Just beyond the downtown area is a residential neighborhood with single-family bungalow homes.
