Vinings is an attractive semi-suburban neighborhood in Cobb County that is northwest of downtown Atlanta. It is popular with young professionals with access to nice restaurants, a variety of housing options and shopping and activities in Buckhead and the Cumberland Mall area.
MARTA does not service Cobb County, but does get very close to Vinings via one bus route. See your commute options below:
MARTA + Uber
Bus 12 departs from the Midtown MARTA station and travels to the Cumberland Transfer Center at Cumberland Mall. From there you could take Uber or other service to your final destination, though the bus route is long, nearly 50 minutes.
To save time and money on your commute, you can also connect with Uber or another car service at the Arts Center MARTA station, which is approximately 8 miles away from Vinings. Use promo code MARTAGuide for $20 your first ride with Uber.
Bus 12 also stops in walking distance to the Vinings Village/Jubilee at Cobb Parkway and Paces Mill Road near the Chattahoochee River and shopping center with a Kroger. Walk west (the side of the street with the BP gas station) on Paces Mills Road for about 18 minutes. There is a sidewalk on one side of the street — use caution as drivers aren’t used to pedestrians in the area.
Cobb Community Transit
Cobb County runs express buses from the Arts Center MARTA station to Cumberland Mall, with a commute time of about 20 minutes as another option. Look for routes 10, 10A and 10B. The transfer from MARTA rail to CCT bus should be free, but if you’re starting in Cobb County, the fare is $5 one-way for the express route, with a free transfer to MARTA rail.
If you are considering moving to Vinings, here are things to know about the lifestyle:
- A car is needed.
- The new Braves stadium is being built nearby and may increase traffic, but there will also be easy access to ball games.
- Without traffic, it is a quick commute into the city via I-75, for jobs downtown or consider an express bus commute. It is harder to commute to jobs east and north of Vinings.
- If you want to park and take MARTA to the airport, use the Dunwoody or Lindbergh Center stations or take Uber to the Arts Center MARTA station if you don’t want to take Uber all the way to the airport. If traffic is heavy, it may be quicker and easier to get a connection to the train.
