Edgewood is a historic Atlanta neighborhood that is surrounded by Candler Park, Reynoldstown, East Atlanta and Kirkwood. Up until 1909, Edgewood was an independent town, and the tree-filled area today has single-family bungalow homes, apartments, lofts, schools and its own MARTA station: Edgewood/Candler Park.
Area amenities include retail stores and restaurants in the Edgewood Retail District, including Kroger, Target and Loews. A mixed-used development in the south parking lot of the MARTA station is also underway, which will bring more housing and food options to the area.
To reach the neighborhood on MARTA, take a blue line train or weekday green line train to the Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA station. Be sure to transfer to an eastbound train marked Candler Park or Indian Creek at the Five Points MARTA station if you are commuting from the red or gold line. Once at the station, follow the signs pointing to Edgewood after exiting the fare gate (not to Candler Park). Bus 24 departs from the station (and the East Lake station) and also travels through the neighborhood via Mayson Avenue and Hosea Williams Drive.
