Virginia Highland is a popular Atlanta neighborhood that hosts A Taste of the Highlands each year in May at John Howell Park. Food samples from the area restaurants and drinks are included in the ticket price. Students rates are available and tickets go up if you purchase the day of the event.
MARTA bus 36 travels to the park, which departs from the Midtown and Decatur MARTA stations. It is free to ride the bus if you are transferring from a train.
If you want to walk or bike, walking time is about 30 minutes and on a bike about 14 minutes. Turn right on 10th Street from main Midtown Station exit and walk until the road dead ends at Monroe Drive. Turn right on Monroe then a quick left onto Virginia Avenue, which goes up a steep hill. The park is about two additional blocks down the street.
