The Sweet Auburn Heritage Festival takes place each fall on historic Auburn Avenue near downtown Atlanta. The festival highlights the history of the historic street and has an artist market, live entertainment and a kids zone.
There are several options for getting to the event on transit:
The closest MARTA stations are the Georgia State and King Memorial stations on the blue/green rail line. From Georgia State, take the Jesse Hill Jr. exit of the station and turn left. Auburn Avenue is about four blocks up the street past Grady Hospital. If you exit at the King Memorial MARTA station, at street level cross over Decatur Street/Dekalb Avenue in front fo the station at the stoplight and walk north along Hilliard Street to reach Auburn Avenue.
The Atlanta Streetcar travels to Sweet Auburn from the Peachtree Center MARTA station on the red/gold rail line. Follow signs pointing to Ellis Street from the train platform and then to Peachtree Street East (left after exiting the fare gates). At street level, turn left and bypass the streetcar stop in front of the station and walk about a half block to Auburn Avenue and turn left. Look for the Park Place streetcar stop next to the round water fountain and wait for the streetcar there.
You can also board bus 99 at the Georgia State or Midtown MARTA station to reach the festival. It is free to ride the bus if you are transferring from a train.
