The Oakhurst Village is south of downtown Decatur near the East Lake MARTA station, Agnes Scott College and the Kirkwood neighborhood. It is popular area with young families and the village has restaurants, pubs, businesses and coffee shops at the intersection of East Lake Drive and Oakview Road. Regular events such as wine crawls, the BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass festival in August and the Oakhurst Jazz at Scottish Rite are also local favorites.
Take a blue line train to the East Lake MARTA station to reach the neighborhood. If you are traveling from the red or gold line, transfer to an eastbound “Indian Creek” train at the Five Points MARTA station. Once at East Lake, the Oakhurst Village is about a 20-minute walk away. Exit the station to left of the fares gates, following the signs pointing to South Parking/College Avenue. Veer right through the parking lot to reach Park Place and turn left. At the first intersection, turn right on East Lake Drive and follow it around to the village (see walking map).
You can also board bus 24 at the East Lake station or bus 123 at the Decatur MARTA station. It is free to ride the bus if you are transferring from a train. For real-time bus arrivals, use the OneBusAway website or app. The MARTA on the Go app has printed schedules, or look up route information online.
