Candler Park is both a neighborhood and a park near the Candler Park MARTA station on the blue and green rail line. The park is about a 10-minute walk from the station and has a public swimming pool, basketball courts, golf course and playground. There are also festivals held there throughout the year including the Candler Park Fall Fest, Atlanta Taco Festival and the Georgia Craft Beer Festival.
Directions
- Take a blue or green line train to the Edgewood/Candler Park station. If you are traveling from the red or gold rail line, transfer at Five Points to the eastbound platform. Board a train labeled “Candler Park” or “Indian Creek” to reach the Candler Park station.
- After arriving at the station, follow the signs pointing to the north parking lot.
- Walk east (away from the stoplight) on Dekalb Avenue and turn left on Mell Avenue about a block away. This street dead ends at the park (see walking map).
If you prefer to walk on a larger road with more car traffic as a safety measure, walk on Dekalb Avenue in the opposite direction to the stoplight next to the station. Turn right at the light on Oakdale Road and right on McClendon Avenue one block away.
