MARTA to Zoo Atlanta

Zoo Atlanta is southeast of downtown Atlanta at 800 Cherokee Avenue SE. It is accessible via two MARTA bus routes and is a 30-minute walk from the King Memorial MARTA station on the blue and green rail lines. In addition to animals (include pandas), there is a children’s playground and regular events, including Brew at the Zoo and Boo at the Zoo.

Train + Walk/Bike Directions

The walk from MARTA to the zoo is 30 minutes through historic Grant Park with several restaurants to choose from along the way for food before or after your visit. See walking directions to learn more.

You can also bike the same route. Relay Bikes are available to rent at the MARTA station by the hour or purchase a monthly pass. You can dock the bikes on Cherokee Avenue at Pavillion Street along the park then walk about five minutes to reach the zoo.

Bus Directions

The best bus option is route 9, which departs from the King Memorial MARTA station. It travels south on Boulevard with a stop near the zoo parking lot. Commute time is relatively short, about 10 minutes, with a frequency of every 30 minutes. It is free to transfer to a bus from MARTA rail. Just have your Breeze Card handy. View real-time bus locations and schedules via the MARTA on the Go app or plan your trip with Google Maps to get bus information (click the train icon instead of car to get transit directions).

Uber/Lyft

Request a Lyft or Uber car at the King Memorial MARTA station for a short and inexpensive ride.

Taxi Program

If you’re staying at a hotel in downtown Atlanta, many participate in the zoo’s free taxi service program to the zoo.
