Poncey Highland is hip neighborhood a few miles east of midtown Atlanta. It includes restaurants and venues along Ponce de Leon Avenue and south of Ponce de Leon Avenue on N. Highland Avenue. Attractions include the Highland Inn Ballroom, Plaza Theater, Manuel’s Tavern, Blondie at the Clermont Lounge and King of Pops at N. Highland and North Avenue.
The North Avenue Station is the closest to the area, but far to walk. Instead, board bus 2 at the North Avenue, Candler Park or Decatur Station. Bus 2 travels down Ponce de Leon, providing easy access to the entire area. Alternating bus 2 routes also travel down N. Highland Avenue into Poncey Highlands.
You can also board bus 16 at the Five Points Station to reach the neighborhood and restaurants along N. Highland Avenue. After the bus passes the Carter Center and turns left on N. Highland Avenue, it will enter the neighborhood.
- You can take one bus there and another bus route back if it works better with timing and your destination.
- The Virginia Highland neighborhood is just up N. Highland Avenue from Ponce de Leon for more restaurants and nightlife options.
- The Real Chow Baby has karaoke at night, or see Blondie crush beer cans at the Clermont. The Highland Inn Ballroom and MJQ regularly have music shows.
