The Fairlie Poplar Historic District in downtown Atlanta was built in the late 1800s as “Atlanta’s new modern fireproof business district”. There are several historic buildings and a variety of architecture where you’ll find numerous places to get a quick bite to eat, office buildings, part of the Georgia State University campus, Healey Building Condominiums, Theatrical Outfit and the Rialto Center for Performing Arts. Several television shows and movies have been filmed here as well.
The district sits in between the Five Points and Peachtree Center Stations.
From Five Points, the most direct route is to take the Broad Street Plaza exit out of the station near the MARTA RideStore/Peachtree Street exit. Walk straight through the plaza to enter Broad Street, which is part of the district. Walk several blocks north or to the west (toward Centennial Olympic Park) to view the entire area.
From Peachtree Center, take the Ellis Street exit off the train platform and follow the signs to Peachtree Street West/Public Library after walking through the fare gate. At street level walk straight ahead toward the library to enter Forsyth Street. Fairlie Popular stretches a couple blocks in any direction.
