MARTA to the Mall at West End

The Mall at West End is located at 850 Oak Street SW, a 5-10 minute walk from the West End MARTA Station on the red/gold rail line.  It is a small urban mall with Jimmy Jazz and Maxway the two largest stores.  Other stores include Foot Locker, Radio Shack and Rainbow Apparel.  All northbound and southbound trains stop at the West End Station, but if you are coming from the blue/green rail line, you must transfer to a southbound train at the Five Points Station.

Take the main exit out of the station and turn right on Whitehall Street.  Turn left on Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. then right on Lee Street.  Bus 68 also travels to the mall and departs from the West End and Ashby MARTA stations.

MARTA to the Mall at Stonecrest

The Mall at Stonecrest is located near I-20 East, closest to the Indian Creek MARTA Station on the blue rail line.  Getting to the mall requires taking one of two bus routes:

  • Bus 111 departs Indian Creek and travels to the mall via Covington Highway and Wesley Chapel Road
  • Bus 116 departs Indian Creek and travels to the mall and a park/ride lot via Redan Road to Turner Hill Road

For both routes, the mall is located at the end of the bus route.  Allow for 50 minutes travel time on bus 111 or 40 minutes on bus 116.

MARTA to the Sweet Auburn Market

The Sweet Auburn Curb Market is located in downtown Atlanta near Grady Hospital.   It contains a variety of restaurants and food markets where you can buy produce and other goods.

The closest MARTA station is the Georgia State Station on the blue/green rail line.  Take the Jesse Hill Jr. exit out of the station and turn left and walk about three blocks to Edgewood Avenue.  The market will be on the corner (see area map).

If you rather not walk, there are two bus options:

  • Bus 99 departs from the Georgia State Station – exit at Auburn and Jesse Hill Jr. and walk south one block to Edgewood Avenue.
  • Bus 3 departs from Five Points and the Candler Park Station.  Also exit at Jesse Hill Jr. and Auburn Avenue.In both cases, look for the Big Bethel “Jesus Saves” church as a landmark for Jesse Hill Jr. Drive.

Market hours are Monday – Saturday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

MARTA to the Inman Park Village

The Inman Park Village is located between the Inman Park neighborhood and Old 4th Ward. It is a collection of condos, apartments, shops and restaurants. Highlights include the Inman Perk Coffee Shop, Parish, Fritti, Sotto Sotto, Pure Taqueria, Victory Sandwich and Dad’s Garage.

The area is about a 15 minute walk from the Inman Park Station on the blue/green rail line. If coming from Five Points, follow the signs to the Eastbound platform and board a train labeled “Candler Park” or “Indian Creek”.

Exit the station by following the signs to Inman Park and veer left at street level to walk along the bus bay.  Cross over Hurt Street and keep walking straight ahead on Edgewood Avenue, then turn right on Elizabeth Street and walk three blocks (see walking map).

Bus 3 also goes to the Inman Park Village from the Candler Park and Five Points stations.

MARTA to Ansley Mall

Ansley Mall is an outdoor shopping center near Piedmont Park.  The major stores are Publix, Kroger, CVS, Pier 1 Imports and Cook’s Warehouse.  Smaller businesses offer discount nutrition, running/tennis apparel, shoe repair, bath/body products, furniture and pet supplies.  Services include L.A. Fitness Gym, Bank of America branch and a laundromat.  If you are hungry, choose from Moe’s, Panera Bread, Cheesesteak Place, Starbucks and a new burger joint.

Getting to Ansley Mall requires taking bus 27 from either the Midtown or Lindbergh Station.  Exit the bus near the intersection of Piedmont Avenue and Monroe Drive.

Nearby restaurants include Hobnob, Ru San’s and Cowtippers.

MARTA to Colony Square

Colony Square is a mixed-use space of offices, retail, food court and residences located at 1197 Peachtree Street.  It is about two blocks from the Arts Center Station and across the street from the High Museum of Art.

From the Arts Center Station, follow the signs to the 15th Street exit, which is one level above the fare gates.  Walk on the sidewalk through the bus bay to 15th Street and turn left.  At Peachtree Street, cross over the street then turn right to walk along it.  Colony Square is less than a block from the intersection.  Neighboring restaurants include Shout, Tamarind Seed, Chik-fil-A and Tap 1180.  The food court is a good destination for affordable food, and especially good for children if you are in the area for the High Museum, Alliance Theatre or Symphony Hall.

MARTA to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market

Your Dekalb Farmer’s Market is one of the biggest indoor markets in the city.  It is located closest to the Avondale MARTA station, but a long walk.  It is best to take bus 36 from the Avondale station, or connect with the bus at the Midtown station, in Virginia Highland on N. Highland Avenue between Virginia Avenue and East Rock Springs or next to Emory on N. Decatur Road.

MARTA to the Edgewood Retail District

The Edgewood Retail District is a walkable shopping area with restaurants, specialty shops and big chain stores such as Kroger, Target, Lowes, Barnes and Noble, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Best Buy (see area map).

The closest MARTA station is Inman Park on the blue and green rail lines.  If you are coming from the north/south rail line, you will need to exit at the Five Points station and follow the signs to the Eastbound platform.  Board a train labeled “Candler Park” or “Indian Creek” to get to the Inman Park station.

Once at the station, follow the signs pointing to Reynoldstown after exiting the fare gate.  At street level veer left and walk back up towards the rail tracks to Seaboard Avenue and turn right.  This street dead ends at the retail district about two blocks down.

You can also walk on the Inman Park side of the station, which is a little safer.  If you exit to Inman Park, turn right at street level to walk east on Dekalb Avenue.  Turn left at the interchange after Haralson Avenue and follow the ramp down and around to the right to get to Moreland Avenue.  The retail district will be just on the other side of the tunnel.

You can also board bus 4, 34 or 107 if you don’t want to walk.  It is best to avoid walking at night.

MARTA to Target

There are several Target stores that are accessible to MARTA:

E3 Inman Park
After exiting the fare gates, turn right, following the signs pointing to Inman Park.  At street level turn right and walk east (away from downtown) along Dekalb Avenue.  At the first stop light, turn left and follow the street ramp down and around to Moreland Avenue and turn right.  The shopping center with Target will be at the second light.  You can also walk on the Reynoldstown side of the tracks, but it isn’t as safe.

N5 Arts Center
Take the free Atlantic Station shuttle from the Arts Center Station into Atlantic Station.  Exit at 17th and State Street, turn right onto State Street on the Atlantic Station shop side of the street.  Target is at the end of the street.

N6 Lindbergh
Take the northern most exit out of the station, following the signs to Morosgo Drive.  Keep walking straight ahead once you exit the station to walk down Lindbergh Lane.  Turn right onto Sidney Marcus when you come to the T.  Walk about two blocks and Target will be in a shopping center on the right.  Look for the Target sign marking a stairwell that will take you underground to the store.  Be advised that the storefront is not visible from the street as it is on the lower level of a parking deck.

NE7 Lenox
Take the main exit out of the station and walk straight ahead alongside Lenox Road.  Turn right at Pier One/Kingsboro Road , then left at the next intersection, which is Oak Valley Road.  Walk about a block and then turn right into the parking garage marked Target/Publix.  Walk straight to the back of the garage to reach Target.

N9 Dunwoody
Target is just north of Perimeter Mall.  After exiting the fare gates, turn right to walk down the corridor.  Go down the flight of stairs and turn right, then a quick left alongside the road beside Perimeter Mall.  By walking straight through the parking lot, you can reach the shopping center with Target, located at roughly at Perimeter Center West and Perimeter Center Place.

MARTA to the Apple Store

If you’re a little iPhone crazy or need a new Apple gadget, there are two Apple Stores right off the MARTA rail line.

The first Apple Store location is in Lenox Mall.  You can take a northbound Doraville or North Springs train from the airport/downtown and exit at either the NE7 Lenox station or the N7 Buckhead station.  The store is about half-way between the two stations inside Lenox Square.  For more specific walking directions, see MARTA to Lenox Mall.

There is also an Apple Store at Perimeter Mall, which is right next to the N9 Dunwoody station.

MARTA to North Dekalb Mall

North Dekalb Mall is located at 2144 Lawrenceville Highway in Decatur. The anchor stores are Macy’s, Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls and Ross Dress For Less, plus it contains the AMC North Dekalb 16 movie theater.  The closest MARTA stations are Decatur and Avondale on the east-west rail line.  It is not in walking distance from the train, but you can choose from two bus routes to get to the mall:

MARTA to Northlake Mall

Getting to Northlake Mall on MARTA requires taking a bus.  There are a few options:

  • From the Lindbergh Center station on the red/gold rail line, get on bus 30 (about 30 minutes)
  • From the Avondale station on the blue rail line, get on bus 125 (about 50 minutes)
  • From the Chamblee station, get on bus 126 (about 30 minutes)

MARTA to the AmericasMart

A buyer and sellers showroom of the latest fashions and products, the AmericasMart is located next to the Peachtree Center MARTA station.

Take any red or gold line to the Peachtree Center Station and take the exit marked “To Harris Street” off the train platform.  After walking through the fare gate, follow the signs again to “Peachtree Street West”.  At street level, turn left alongside Peachtree Street and the Mart will be just ahead on the left.  Total walking time is approximately five minutes.

MARTA to Phipps Plaza

Phipps Plaza is one of Atlanta’s upper-scale shopping malls located near the Lenox and Buckhead MARTA stations.

From the Lenox Station, follow the signs pointing to Lenox Mall after exiting the train and go up the tall escalator.  After exiting the fare gates, keeping walking straight ahead alongside Lenox Road.  Walk about three blocks and turn right onto Peachtree Street.  Phipps will be at the next stoplight on the left.  If you don’t want to walk, you can get on bus 25 at the Lenox station.

An alternate walking route is take the non-mall exit off the train platform and walk up Oak Valley Road (see walking map).  This route is a little more direct and has less car traffic.

You can also exit at the Buckhead Station.  After exiting the fare gate, take the first set of stairs up to street level and turn left.  Walk along Peachtree Street for about three blocks and Phipps will be on the left at the fourth stoplight.  A new Buckhead station bridge over GA 400 will be completed in 2013 that will provide a more direct walking route to the mall once completed.

MARTA to Lenox Mall

Lenox Square Mall is located at 3393 Peachtree Road, just across the street from the  Lenox MARTA Station, making it one of the easiest destinations to get to on MARTA.  You’ll need to be on a gold line train to get to the station.  If coming from the airport, downtown or midtown, look for a train labelled “Doraville”.  After getting off the train at Lenox, follow the signs pointing toward Lenox Mall to exit the station. After exiting the fare gates, walk straight ahead alongside Lenox Road and turn left at the sidewalk entrance to the J.W. Marriott Hotel where there is a large fountain out front.  The entrance is actually one to the mall as well.

After entering the building, go up the escalator and follow the corridor into the mall.  This entrance will put you near the food court, Urban Outfitters and Bloomingdale’s. The other department stores anchoring the mall are Macy’s and Neiman Marcus.  Macy’s features the classic Pink Pig ride and the Great Tree during the holiday season, and one of the largest fireworks shows in the southeast are located at the mall on July 4.

You can also exit at the Buckhead Station.  After exiting the fare gates, take the tunnel underneath Peachtree Road and at street level, turn right.  The mall is less than two blocks down.  Stores closest to this station include Crate and Barrel, Macy’s and the Apple Store.
