MARTA to the Barge Road Park and Ride

The Barge Road Park and Ride is located at the intersection of Barge Road and Campbellton Road, just behind the Greenbriar Animal Hospital.  Several MARTA bus routes connect with the parking lot:

  • Bus 66 connects to the H.E. Holmes station
  • Bus 83 connects to the Oakland City station
  • Bus 165 connects to the H.E. Holmes station
  • Bus 183 connects to the Lakewood/Fort McPherson station

Click on the above links for route schedules.  The Oakland City and Lakewood/Fort McPherson station are on the red/gold rail line, ideal if you are traveling north or south on the MARTA rail system.  The H.E. Holmes station provides connection to the blue rail line that travels east and west through the city.  All trains stop at the Five Points station.

Helpful Tips

  • It is free to transfer from MARTA rail to buses.
  • If you are parking at the Barge Road and don’t have a Breeze Card fare, you can pay $2.50 cash.  Drivers cannot make change.

MARTA to the Lakewood Amphitheatre

Getting to Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood requires taking a bus from the Lakewood Station on the south red/gold rail line.  The bus ride is free as long as you tap your Breeze ticket or card when you exit the station.  You can choose from either:

  • Bus 42 – Stops near both entrances.  Exit at Langford Parkway and Lakewood Way for the Lakewood Entrance (all will call available) or exit at Pryor Road and Pryor Circle right before the stoplight for the Pryor Box Office (Ticketmaster will call only).  This stop is the shortest walk to the main amphitheatre entrance.  Bus 42 also continues on to the Five Points Station, so for your return trip, you could get on the first bus that arrives in either direction to reconnect with the rail line.
  • Bus 178- Exit at Lakewood Avenue and Macon Drive.  All will call tickets can be picked up here.
(See area and bus stop map)

Tell the bus driver your destination, or pull the cord on the sides of the bus to indicate a stop.  It is about a 10 minute ride to/from the station.

Other Things to Know
If you don’t ride MARTA often, purchase a Breeze card with a roundtrip fare at the start of your trip.   Buses do accept cash (one way fare is $2.50) should you need to pay that way, but bus drivers cannot make change and you do not get a free transfer to the train.

The buses run approximately every 30 minutes and up until 1 a.m., although the trains also stop running around the same time, so plan to be back at the station by 12:30 a.m. to allow enough time for rail travel.  It is better to return earlier than later, as the area isn’t as safe as being in Midtown or Buckhead, and you will have to wait at a bus stop along the road next to the venue as opposed to inside the Lakewood park.

You can also call ahead for a taxi to meet you at the Lakewood Station.  The station address is 1400 Lee Street.  Atlanta Checker Cab is one company that can be contacted at 404-351-1111, or use their smartphone app or text message system.  You can also take a cab from Lakewood back to the MARTA station.

From late April until the end of August, the Pryor Road box office will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 noon until 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
