MARTA to Bobby Dodd Stadium

Georgia vs Georgia Tech 2007-HHT-2

Image via Wikipedia

For Tech fans, getting to the Bobby Dodd Stadium on MARTA is  fairly convenient.  You’ll want to exit at the N3 North Avenue Station, following the signs to North Avenue/West Peachtree Street and avoiding the exits pointing to the Fox Theatre.  At street level walk straight ahead and slightly to the right to walk along North Avenue.  Walk about five minutes, crossing over the connector, and the stadium will be on your right (see map).

For more information, see Using Google Maps for MARTA directions and view a list of the restaurants around the North Avenue station.

MARTA to the Fox Theatre

It is a very short walk to the Fox Theatre from the N3 North Avenue station, making it is one of the easiest destinations to get to on MARTA.  After exiting the train, go to the north end of the platform — there should be signs with arrows that say “To Fox Theatre”.  You’ll briefly walk through the AT & T building where are there are a few shops.  Keep moving straight ahead and there will be  a street exit onto 3rd Street.  Turn right on 3rd, then at Peachtree turn right.

If you accidentally stumble out of the station onto North Avenue, turn left on North Avenue, then left onto Peachtree Street to get to the Fox.  The timing isn’t that much different, but you will stay underground longer by going via the AT & T building, which is nice if it is raining, cold or late at night when spending less time on the street is a better option.

If you want to combine dining out with your trip, there are several casual and fine dining restaurants near the North Avenue station.  Click the link to view the list.

MARTA to Flicks on 5th

Flicks on 5th is one of the several free outdoor movie options for Atlanta, hosted by Georgia Tech.  A portion of 5th Street between Spring and Williams Street is closed off and a few vendors provide snacks and drinks while local restaurants offer “to go” meals.

To get to Flicks on 5th by MARTA, take a red or gold line train to the North Avenue Station and take the Fox Theatre exit off the train platform. After going through the fare gates, walk straight ahead through the indoor mall and out the doors to 3rd Street. Turn left on 3rd, right on West Peachtree and then left on 5th Street.

Although a slightly longer walk, you can also get off at the Midtown Station. Exit on to Peachtree Place and turn right.  At West Peachtree Street turn left and walk down to 5th Street.
