Directions
The bus departs from the MARTA Civic Center Station at 435 West Peachtree Street. To get there on MARTA, take any red or gold line train to the Civic Center Station.  All trains departing the airport, downtown and in the north stop at this station.  If you are coming from the blue/green rail line, such as H.E. Holmes or Decatur, you will have to take the train to the Five Points Station, exit the train and look for the signs pointing to the Northbound platform to transfer to a northbound train.

If you are driving to the station, West Peachtree Street is a one-way street going north, and the closet interstate exit is 249D/Spring Street if you are driving on I-75/I-85N or 249C if you are driving southbound on I-75/I-85S.

Parking
There is no parking at this station. There are several other MARTA stations that offer long-term parking for $5 to $8/day, allowing riders to park and ride to the Civic Center Station. The Lindbergh Center Station is the closest MARTA long-term parking location to the Megabus at 2424 Piedmont Rd. NE.  Look for the Sydney Marcus parking deck behind the intersection of Sydney Marcus and Piedmont Road where there is a Chick-fil-A on the corner.  Riders can also use valet next to the Civic Center Station at the Twelve Centennial Park Hotel for $24/day or  use the $30/day valet parking at the W Hotel parking garage at 55 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. around the corner.

Arriving Passenger Information
For passengers arriving on the Megabus at the Civic Center Station, board a southbound MARTA train to get to the airport, which takes about 18 minutes.  You can also take a southbound train to the Garnett Station for Greyhound, or take a northbound train to the Arts Center Station to connect with bus 110 for Amtrak if your trip requires that connection.  MARTA fares can be purchased in every station for $2.50 one-way for adults.  There are also several car rental companies located near the Peachtree Center Station if you need to rent a car, though there are plenty of hotels and area attractions accessible by MARTA as well.

Civic Center MARTA Station

The Civic Center MARTA station is located at 435 West Peachtree Street, in between downtown and midtown.  Red and gold line trains stop at the Civic Center Station, which is next to the Twelve Hotel and near Emory University Hospital Midtown,  the W Hotel, Inn at the Peachtrees, Hyatt Place and several nice restaurants including Room and BLT Steak.  The Atlanta Civic Center and Georgia Aquarium  are also nearby, but you will have to walk about four blocks to get there (see area map). Be advised that when walking across town, take Ivan Allen Jr. and not Pine Street.  Pine Street has a homeless shelter and isn’t as nice of a walk.

MARTA to the W Hotel

There are four W Hotels in close proximity to MARTA:

  1. W Hotel Downtown
Exit at the Civic Center Station on the red/gold rail line and head south (toward the skyscrapers) on West Peachtree Street.  Turn right at the first stoplight, Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd., and the hotel will be about a block down on the right.
  2. W Hotel Midtown
Exit at the Arts Center Station on the red/gold rail line and take the West Peachtree Street exit out of the station.  Turn left to walk alongside West Peachtree Street and turn left again onto 14th Street.  Walk about 3.5 blocks to reach the hotel at 188 14th Street.  You can also get on bus 27 at the Midtown station, which has a stop across from the hotel.
  3. W Hotel Buckhead
Take a red line/North Springs train to the Buckhead Station.  After exiting the fare gates, keep walking straight ahead until the corridor dead ends at a elevator/stairway (bypass the first set of stairs).  Go up to street level and turn right.  The W Hotel is about a block down on the right and also features a swanky rooftop bar called Whiskey Blue.
  4. W Hotel Perimeter
It is a little harder to walk to this hotel due to lack of sidewalks, and if you have luggage, getting a taxi from the Dunwoody Station is advised.  Otherwise, take a North Springs/red line train to the Dunwoody station and after exiting the fare gates, turn right to walk along a corridor that eventually goes down to street level.  Turn right at the bottom of the stairs then a quick left at the first street to walk around Perimeter Mall.  The hotel is at the northern side of the mall campus (see area map).

MARTA to Grant Park

Grant Park sits in a historic district of turn-of-the-century homes and contains a large public pool, wooded paths, playgrounds, tennis courts, Zoo Atlanta and more.  The park is also home to the Summer Shade Festival that takes place every August.

The closest station to Grant Park is E2 King Memorial.  Plan for a 15 minute walk to the edge of the park  and another 20 to walk the length of the park itself (see walking directions and map).  Otherwise, you can take bus 32 from the Five Points or Civic Center station.  This route also connects to the Georgia Aquarium if you want to combine attractions.

For more information, see other Atlanta tourist attractions and how to get there on MARTA.

MARTA to Emory University Hospital Midtown

Formerly the Crawford Long Hospital, the Emory University Hospital Midtown is located near the N3 North Avenue station (see area map).  Ride the train to North Avenue and take the exit out of the station marked “To West Peachtree Street” or “To North Avenue”.  At street level walk straight to across over North Avenue (toward the Bank of America tower) and keep walking straight ahead alongside West Peachtree Street.  You will find an entrance about 1.5 blocks down (see an image of the hospital entrance).  There is also a main entrance off of Peachtree Street, one block to the east.

The alternate route is to exit at the N2 Civic Center station and walk north on West Peachtree Street.  The hospital is about halfway between the two stations.  The other main Emory hospitals are located on the Emory University campus, accessible via bus 6 (see  MARTA directions to Emory University).

MARTA to the World of Coke

The World of Coke is one of more popular Atlanta tourist attractions you can get to on MARTA. There are several options to get there:

  1. Take any red or gold line train to the Peachtree Center Station and follow the signs to the Harris Street exit then to Peachtree Street West.  At street level, turn left along Peachtree Street and walk to Baker Street and turn left (west) on Baker.  The World of Coke is about 4 blocks down (see walking map).
  2. Take the train to Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena stop on the blue and green rail line.  Take the Philips Arena exit out of the station and more or less walk straight ahead on Centennial Park Drive and through the park to reach the museum.
  3. Ride bus 32 from the Civic Center Station.   This a great route because it will also take you to the Atlanta zoo, so you can hit both attractions on the same bus line.

MARTA to Gwinnett

While MARTA does not extend into Gwinnett, you can connect to the Gwinnett County Transit System from the Doraville Station.  As the last stop on the MARTA gold line, the Doraville Station provides access to GCT Route 10 that travels up Buford Highway through Norcross, ending at the Gwinnett Transfer Center/Gwinnett Place Mall.  The transfer center allows connections between all five local GCT routes and seven express routes.

There is also GRTA Express Route 410 that goes directly from the Lindbergh Station to Discovery Mills.  And GRTA Express Route 412 goes to Discovery Mills from the Civic Center and Arts Center Stations in addition to several other midtown stops in between.

GRTA Express is $3 one way or $5 roundtrip.  GCT rates vary by route, from $2-$4.  Transfers to/from MARTA are free and you can use your Breeze Card for Route 10.

A Gwinnett light rail system is on the list of projects that could be supported by a one-cent sales tax.  Voters can support light rail expansion by voting in the Fall 2012 election.

MARTA to the Atlanta Civic Center

To get to the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, take MARTA to the Civic Center station on the red/gold rail line.   At street level, go south (toward downtown) on West Peachtree Street and then turn left on Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd.  Cross over Peachtree Street and Courtland — the Civic Center is at the third intersection at Piedmont Avenue.  The walking distance is about 3 1/2 blocks or 11 minutes.

It is better to go this route than take Pine Street because of the homeless shelter.

You can also board bus 16 at the Five Points Station or along N. Highland Avenue to reach the Civic Center. There is a bus stop on Ralph McGill Avenue next to the parking lot of the venue.

MARTA to the Atlanta Zoo

Zoo Atlanta is located in Grant Park, southeast of downtown Atlanta.  The zoo is known for having pandas, and it also features a children’s area and regular events such as Brew at the Zoo and Jazzoo.

The closest MARTA station is the King Memorial Station, but unless you want to walk 30 minutes, it is best to take a bus (see walking directions from the King Memorial Station if you would like to walk and combine travel with eating at an area restaurant).

Bus 32 goes to the zoo from the Civic Center and Five Points Stations. Tell the driver your destination for an easy commute.  The bus runs every 30 minutes on the weekend and every 20 minutes weekdays, plus additional bus service during rush hour. Riders can print schedules online or pick up a printed copy of the bus schedule at the Five Points Station. If you plan to connect to the bus at Five Points, the bus picks up at the intersection of Alabama and Forsyth Streets.   Take the Forsyth Street exit out of the station and turn left.  Once on the bus, the ride from Five Points to the zoo is about 10 minutes (see area and bus stop map).

The zoo is not very visible from the street, but sits in the southern end of the park.  Next to the zoo you will also find the Cyclorama and Civil War Museum, which has the world’s largest painting (of the Battle of Atlanta).
