The Marriott Courtyard in downtown Decatur is the main hotel in the area at 130 Clairemont Avenue, and provides easy access to numerous restaurants, pubs and shops. The hotel features high-speed Internet, indoor pool and fitness center.
The closest MARTA station is the Decatur Station on the blue rail line. If you are coming from the airport, take any train from the airport and exit at the Five Points Station. Follow the signs to the Eastbound train platform and wait for an “Indian Creek” train. Only an “Indian Creek” train goes to Decatur.
Once at the Decatur Station (about a 15-minute ride from Five Points) take the Swanton Way exit out of the station (not Church Street). You will exit the station into the bus loading area. Keep to the right and walk around the bus bay, and just at the end of the bus area will be a narrow street on the right with yellow posts across it. Turn right into that street, which will take you to West Ponce de Leon Avenue. Turn right on Ponce and left at the first stoplight on to Clairemont Avenue. The hotel will be less than a block down on the left (see walking map).
- There is a CVS on West Ponce de Leon Avenue if you need any necessities or prescriptions. A small Kroger is also nearby.
- The free Cliff Shuttle picks up passengers at the Decatur Station and goes to Emory University/CDC.
- Bus 2 at the station can also take you to midtown Atlanta near several attractions, including the Fernbank Museum, Fox Theatre, The Varsity and the Shakespeare Tavern. Just be sure to look up and know schedules, as it isn’t a very frequent route. On the return trip, make sure you board a bus 2 marked with “Decatur Station” as its destination.
